Who we are

OpensRight is run by Volodymyr Chapman, a sole trader trading as OpensRight, who is the data controller for the information described here and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Address: 82A James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Suffolk IP28 7DE, United Kingdom. Email: hello@opensright.com.

Your files

When you check a file, your browser reads it on your own device. Your file is never uploaded or sent to us, and nothing from its contents (text, file name, font names or anything else) leaves your device.

Anonymous usage counts

To learn whether this tool is useful, your browser sends us a short anonymous record each time you run a check: whether it was slides or a document, which apps you chose, how many issues of each kind were found, and a rough file-size range (for example “1–10 MB”). It contains no file name and no content, we don't store your IP address with it, and nothing in it identifies you or your device.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It doesn't use cookies or track you across sites.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist we keep:

We use this only to email you about the full version of OpensRight (launch news and an invitation to try it). Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us. We never sell or share your details for anyone else's marketing.

We keep waitlist details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and in any case no longer than 12 months after the full version launches. When you unsubscribe we delete what you told us about yourself and keep only your email address and the date, so that we never email you again by mistake; email us if you'd like that removed too.

Who processes data for us

Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website and stores the waitlist and the anonymous counts on our behalf, as our processor. Cloudflare may process data in the United States; it relies on its certification under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with standard contractual clauses as a fallback.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the details we hold about you, or object to how we use them, by emailing hello@opensright.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
